In order to transcribe with our company you will need the following software and equipment.
Legal transcription:
* High speed internet access * A land or cellular phone line * Current active email address. * Computer Running Windows or a MAC * FTP (File Transfer Program) like Core or FileZilla. These are free programs * Express Scribe, For the Record or any program that will play our audio files * Many workers use Trillian to communicate easily. It is free. * Microsoft Word and/or Word Perfect * Good quality headset. Listening to audio through speakers is not acceptable * Digital pedal capable of working with The Record Player and ES (not all do)
Many of our legal clients have specific players we need to use. They will always be available free from the Web.
Some legal clients only accept Word Perfect. Others only accept work in MS Word. This is not our option. We conform to their requirements.
Political (House and Senate Hearings) uses Real Audio files. These can only be played in Express Scribe Pro which is not free. However, there are many free converters out there that will convert RA files to MP3 should you prefer to stay with the free player and put forth the effort to convert your files.
We recommend that you do not buy software and/foot pedal to use with working with Kendall Creek unless you have passed all the tests, you are working and it appears that it would be valuable for you to do so.
